Events and Pilgrimages

Both FOCCUS and 'The Friends at Canterbury Cathedral' organize events throughout the year to build up a strong Friends community and to share with each other their love for their Mother Church.

A new pilgrimage to Canterbury Cathedral will take place June 13-21, 2011.  Organized by the Reverend Canon Matthew Corkern, who will serve as Pilgrimage Chaplain, the theme of this experience will be "Living & Following The Pilgrim's Way."  This pilgrimage is designed to provide a spiritual and cultural sojourn to reclaim our Anglican roots.

Beginning at Chichester Cathedral in England, the group of 25 pilgrims will travel by coach and by foot the traditional way of pilgrimage to Canterbury Cathedral.  There the group will tour the Precincts, learn about all aspects of the Cathedral and its present life, as well as explore the City of Canterbury itself.  Among many special moments will be participating in the beautiful service of Evensong in the Cathedral Choir.

En route to Canterbury the tour will take pilgrims through the English countryside, stopping in picturesque hotels and inns along the way.

For the price of this pilgrimage and further details, please contact the FOCCUS office by email at canterburyus@gmail.com, or by calling 202-822-8994.

In April 2009 the Canterbury Cathedral Choir completed a tour of nine U.S. cities including Chicago, Atlanta, Charleston, Philadelphia, and New York. The concluding event was a marvelous service of Evensong at the Washington National Cathedral. The Choir performed magnificently throughout the series, despite the challenging schedule. Through the engaging and inspiring music they presented the spirit of Canterbury Cathedral shone through.
